If you come to Avedøre Stationsby, the church is worth a visit.
Avedøre Kirke

About the Church of Avedøre

The first church in Avedøre was a temporary, wooden church from 1964. Holger Jensen was the architect. The architect behind the present church from 1977 in Avedøre Stationsby is Palle Rydahl Drost. The four-winged church complex is made from reddish brown bricks. From the outside, it appears uninviting and fortress-like. But in between the wings you'll find an inviting patio. The bell tower, inspired by southern European style, is found in the south-eastern end of the church.

Café Hjertetræet can be found in the accretion from 2001.

In the church you can see:
Votive ship model from 1978, a copy of the frigate Neptunus, built by E. Ovdal Larsen.
A Probenius organ.
A woven altarpiece with Whitsun motive from 1977, by Mette & Ulrik Rössing.
Four antependiums in the liturgical colours hanging on the pulpit, which are replaced over the year. Also by Mette & Ulrik Rössing.
Baptismal font from stoneware by Allan Schmidt.
Church silver by Jørgen Dahlerup.
Gilt wooden cross from the old wooden church, made by Holger Jensen.
Fish sculpture from 1989 by Erik Heide.

On the town square, Folkets Plads, south-east of the church, you may enjoy some fine art work.
